Howard J Porth Jr., 48, of Denville, NJ died on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Porth was born in Kearny, NJ and attended Queen of Peace High School, where he was a three sport athlete. He graduated from Seton Hall University in 1986 and received his MBA from St. Peters College in 1992. While attending Seton Hall, Howard was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and played rugby. Mr. Porth was employed by Rigio Valve in Bayonne, NJ, Grand Union, in Wayne, NJ and spent the last 13 years working at Schering Plough/Merck in Kenilworth and Summit as an IT manager.
Prior to moving to Denville in 1990, he lived in Harrison, NJ for 25 years, where he was a member of the Harrison Boy Scout Troop 304 and earned his Eagle Scout Award in 1982. While in Denville, Mr. Porth was an active member of the community where he served as a Cub Scout Assistant Leader, as well as coached numerous team sports including Denville's Women's Softball team, Denville PAL Girls' Basketball, Denville Blue Angels football, Denville Little League and the 12 year old All Star team at Cooperstown, NY. Howard also played for D&M Auto Body men's softball team for 7 years.
Mr. Porth is survived by his wife, Angela-Maria Cote; his children Catherine and Daniel; their mother, Theresa Albarella and his nephews, Louis and Stephen Rogacki and their families.
Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ from 2-4PM and 6-9PM. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10AM at St. Anthony's Church in East Newark, NJ with interment directly following at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
