Ila J. Silverthorne Tomkins, 79, passed away at her home on November 4th. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 7th from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave. Denville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA.
Ila was born in Dover to the late Henry and Jennie Silverthorne. After her schooling, she married and raised her family of six. She was an exceptional homemaker and mother. When the kids were older she worked as a district manager with the Star Ledger for over 25 years until her retirement.
Surviving are children Jeffrey (Cookie), Jill Downing (Wilbur), Glenn (Jackie), Kenneth, Sally Tomkins (Walter) and Allan; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother David (Carol) sisters Beverly and Gloria and many more loving relatives and friends.
