CLARE H. PRENDERGAST (NEE HANSEN) PASSED AWAY ON OCTOBER 20, 2014 AT COMPASSIONATE CARE IN DOVER.
CLARE WAS BORN TO MARY AND ERIC HANSEN ON DECEMBER 31, 1931 IN QUEENS, N. Y
SHE GRADUATED FROM ST. VINCENT FERRER HIGH SCHOOL AND WENT TO WORK FOR THE WALL STREET FIRM OF BROWN BROTHERS HARRIMAN BANK IN NEW YORK.
UPON MARRYING MICHAEL (MIKE) PRENDERGAST, IN JUNE, 1952 AT ST. KEVIN'S IN FLUSHING, NEW YORK, THE COUPLE MOVED TO LAREDO, TEXAS WHERE MIKE SERVED IN THE AIR FORCE AT LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE AND CLARE WORKED IN THE COMMANDER'S OFFICE AS SECRETARY. AT THE END OF HER HUSBAND'S TOUR OF DUTY, THE COUPLE MOVED BACK TO NEW YORK AND CLARE AGAIN WORKED IN THE COMMANDING GENERAL'S OFFICE AT FORT TOTTEN.
CLARE AND MIKE MOVED TO DENVILLE, NJ AND CLARE AGAIN WENT TO WORK AT PICATINNY ARSENAL IN THE MUNITIONS COMMAND. SHE RETIRED IN 1988
CLARE ENJOYED THE MANY CRUISES AND LAND TRIPS SHE AND HER HUSBAND TOOK OVER THE RETIREMENT YEARS. SHE ALSO ENJOYED READING, LUNCH WITH THE GIRLS AND EVENTS WITH HER FAMILY AND EXTENDED FAMILY, THE COPPOLA'S.
SHE IS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND, MICHAEL. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER SISTERS, CAROL HAGGERTY OF PALENTINE, IL, CONSTANCE AGRO (CHARLES), OF PARK RIDGE, NJ HER BROTHER-IN-LAW, JOHN PRENDERGAST, NEW BERN, NC, MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND HER BEST FRIEND, SUE COPPOLA.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON SAT. OCT. 25, 2014 AT 11:00 AM AT THE NORMAN DEAN HOME FOR SERVICES 16 RIGHTER AVE. DENVILLE, NJ, WWW.NORMANDEAN.COM. PLEASE SHARE A MEMORY OF CLARE ON OUR WEB SITE.
