My father, William P. Taggart, was a neighbor of Mrs. Troy when he was a small child. I had her as a teacher in Copeland Middle School back in the 1970s - I took a class she taught about birds! She told me then that my father was the first baby she had ever held when she was a young girl. My dad died in 2019. I don't even know how I just came across this page, but it definitely brought back some childhood memories!

Mrs. Troy was my teacher at St Mary's - she always cared for her students and had a talent for explaining complicated issues by using real-life examples. I will always remember her fondly!

My mom lives as Fran Oaks and was a good friend of your mom's. Your mom was always upbeat and happy, even in poor health. We will all miss her- she was a real trooper. Much love, Clare & Dorothy

Cathy was my co-worker for many years at Copeland Middle School, where she was an excellent, innovated teacher who involved her students in “hands on” projects. Our classrooms were close, and for many years we ate lunch together where we would commiserate on the joys and hardships of teaching middle school age children. Laughter got us through some tough days. Cathy had a way of getting to the core of a situation, and I would often ask her opinion on some school-related issue.
We kept in touch as the years went by; her house in Denville, her rental house down the shore; up to my vacation home in the Poconos with Monica Selden and her son David; and, of course, at Franciscan Oaks. She kept abreast of my children’s activities; especially my eldest whom she had as a student at Copeland. I consider myself fortunate that our paths crossed so many years ago; I am proud to call her my friend.

As a friend of her daughter, I only met Mrs. Troy on a couple of occasions many years ago when Beth and I visited in the summer at Ortley Beach. She was a gracious hostess, and a good cook! I know that she has always been a significant figure in Beth’s life, and no one could have asked for a more dedicated daughter. My thoughts and love go out to Beth during this difficult time.

Catherine Troy pretty much inherited me when Beth and I became friends and co-conspirators in first grade at St. Mary's. She always treated me as an adult and took great pleasure in sharing our secret jokes that were aimed, gleefully, at deserving targets. She had a roar of a laugh and a sparkle of defiance that always tickled me.
