Thomas F. Gabriel of Rockaway, NJ passed away on October 4, 2014.
He worked at Hoffmann-La Roche for 32 years before retiring in 1989.
A graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute, with BS in chemistry, and a Master of Science in chemistry from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, he held 2 patents and coauthored more than 40 research publications. Tom was a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma XI. He received awards for his volunteer work with Passaic Valley Hospice and the New Jersey Buddies. Tom was an avid golfer, playing at various courses in NJ and PA.
He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn Gabriel in 1986.
Thomas is survived by his longtime companion Anke Lane, and his daughters Patricia Sperling, Kathleen Marsh and Lisa Henry as well as his grandchildren Nicholas & Michael Sperling, Adrian Myer, Jennifer Moss, Nicole and Alexa Henry and his sister Catherine Surdukowski.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 will be held at 9AM on Wednesday October 8, 2014, at St. Cecilia's Church in Rockaway, NJ. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
