Jo Ellen (Josephine) Cole, 49, passed away on Sunday, September 28th with her loving family by her side. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 2nd at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Denville. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1st from 4-8 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in her memory to the good work of either the North Memorial Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, In honor of JoAnna McCormack, North Memorial Foundation, 3300 Oakdale Ave N., Robbinsdale MN 55422; or the Rotary Club of Hicksville-Jericho PO Box 435 Hicksville NY 11802, or the National Pancreatic Foundation - NPCF P.O. Born in Denville, Jo has lived in Bethpage, NY for the past 23 years. She graduated from Morris Knolls High School and Rutgers University, earning her BA in Psychology. She then earned her Masters degree in Psychology at Montclair State University. She worked for North Shore- LIJ Health System for many years where she served as a Program Manager and as Director, Service Excellence. A sports fan, Jo Ellen was an avid golfer and was a member of the Executive Women's Golf Association of Long Island. Jo Ellen played varsity soccer at both Morris Knolls High School and at Rutgers University. A passionate volunteer, Jo Ellen was active within her Rotary Club, District 7290 Hicksville-Jericho. She twice served as their President and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
She was an amazing Aunt to her ten nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was a regular attendee of their various activities and was one of their most vocal fans.
Predeceased by her parents Frank and Brigid, her stepfather Thomas deLime, and niece Jo Anna McCormack; she is survived by her maternal grandmother Josephine Hogan; brother Frank Cole and his wife Mary Alice; sisters Maura McCormack and her husband John, Heather Cole, and Colleen Perry and her husband Kevin; her ten adoring nieces and nephews Maggie and Aidan Cole, Braden, Matthew, Morgan and Brigid McCormack, Maddie and Wyatt Rydlewski and Shane and Ethan Perry; her dear friend and companion Michael Leahy; aunt Kathleen Chevalier (Paul); and many more loving relatives and friends.
