George E. Merrill, 81, passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, Sept. 17th surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24th at 10:30am at the Norman Dean Home For Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Donations in his name may be made to the Lake Hiawatha Fire Dept., District # 4, 39 N. Born in Denville, George has been a resident of Lake Hiawatha for over 60 years where he and his wife raised their family. After his schooling, he enlisted into the US Air Force, where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a hand engraver for Tiffany and served his community as a volunteer fireman with Lake Hiawatha District #4 for over 50 years. He was active with the Elks Club and spent 16 years as a crossing guard for the Parsippany - Troy Hills School District.
Predeceased by his wife Joan, father George D. Merrill, and sister Sally Ann Grabsky; he is survived by his children Beverly Merrill and George (Susan Kroeger); his mother Alberta; grandchildren Crystian Ioppolo (Ben), Brianna, George and Patrick Merrill; sister Kaye Shauger; and many more loving relatives and dear friends.
