Obituary of Donald Thomas Vose

Donald T. Vose Jr. 84, died on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at his home at Fox Hills in Rockaway, NJ.
Don was born in the Bronx, raised in Rutherford, NJ and lived in Parsippany for five years before moving to Denville in 1960. After forty five years Don and his wife moved into Fox Hills in Rockaway.
Donald graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Following Graduation he went to work in the Insurance industry in New York. In the early 1950's he joined the US Navy where he attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI.
After his service time he returned to the Insurance industry and worked as an agent in Newark and later for Richards and Summers Insurance Agency in Denville, NJ. He later worked for Franklin Mutual Insurance Company in Branchville, NJ and retired in 1996. Don was a certified Insurance counselor and had mentored many a young agent.
He believed in the Rotary Motto of "Service Above Self" and he belonged to Denville Rotary Club where he had received a Paul Harris Fellow and last month completed "Fifty Years Perfect Attendance."
On July 16, 1955 Don married Shirley L Miller at the Richmond Methodist Church in Richmond, PA. He is survived by Shirley, as well as his two children and their spouses D. Thomas and Linda Vose of Lakeville, PA and Susan and John Johnson of Flemington.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Thomas and Karyn Vose of Charlotte, NC, Kevin and Caitlin Johnson of New Hope, PA, Cassandra Vose of Washington, DC, Bryan Johnson of Royal Oak, Mich., Jeffrey Johnson and Lauren Johnson both of Flemington, as well as his loving friend and caregiver Ireno Morro. A Son Gregory A. Vose died previously.
Friends and family will be visiting on Monday July 7, 2014 at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with a Rotary service being held at 7:30 PM. All other services are private.
