I started taking voice lessons with Mrs. May in 1970, when I was in Boonton High School. I continued studying with her until after I moved into NYC, in the 1980's and my theatre career started taking me away to so many different places. It was harder and harder to get out to see her. However we always remained close. Her influence on me, not just as a vocalist but as a performing artist was crucial. She certainly was one of the biggest influences on my career. I am just so thrilled that she was alive to know that I got to sing at the Metropolitan Opera. I know that made her proud and that made me feel so happy. May she rest in peace and be satisfied that she had a wonderful career and meant so much to so many people.

I met Mrs. May, while attending Montclair State College, as a music major. My major instrument was classical guitar, but I also studied voice privately, with Mrs. May. I continued my voice studies with her, after college. Studying voice at her home was beautiful, over looking the lake. Sometimes, I would take walks around the lake, and swim there in the summer. Mrs. May was a dedicated teacher, and nurtured me in my early singing career. She was a blessing to so many students and friends!

I have wonderful memories of Mrs. May from when I was a child. She would expect a "trick" every Halloween or there would be no treat! We looked forward to seeing her and performing in her living room. When I was older, she took me on as a student where we would rehearse in a beautiful room over looking the big Lake. She loved all of her students and I am grateful for all she taught me. She seemed to had lived an incrediable life and she will be missed. All of my sincere sympathy to her family and friends.

I have such happy memories of working in Mrs. May's lovely garden in the 1990's fertilizing and mulching her Azalea bushes. She would often show me all her vitamins bottles and explain her daily regimen. She was classic, elegant, and had a shining personality. They don't make such grand ladies like Mrs. May anymore!

I am sorry for your loss please accept my deepest sympathy. I hope you will find your strength and comfort in Jesus promises of the earthly resurrection(:Acts 24:15) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will have to mourn the death of a loved one.-Revelation 21:3,4; Luke 23:43. May GOD(Psalms 83:18) grant you peace and comfort now during this grievous time.-Matthew 5:4.
