Obituary of Stanley Ernest Gebura

Stanley Ernest Gebura passed away at his home in Mountain Lakes, NJ on April 8, 2014. He was 90 years old. Born in Buffalo, NY , he had lived in Mountain Lakes, NJ for the last 49 years. Stanley served in the U.S. Army Air Corps 493rd Bomb Group with the 8th Air Force in Debach, England during WWII from 1944 – 1945. He was very proud of his service and enjoyed sharing his memories about these times. Following the war he attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, CO and received a Doctorate degree in Chemistry in 1953. Stanley liked adventure and while at UC Boulder he became an avid rock climber and was on the Rocky Mountain Rescue Squad. In 1953 he married Patricia Mae Peach, a violinist and music teacher from Wichita, Kansas. After their wedding in Boulder they had a picture book honeymoon in southeast Utah, touring all of the national parks. Stanley went on to work as a Research Chemist for Monsanto Corp. and B.A.S.F. He had a love for aviation and obtained his pilot's license after moving his family to Massachusetts in 1955. Next to a B-17, his favorite airplane was a Beechcraft Debonair. He liked to fly cross-country or to just go out and do "wing-overs." His work as a research chemist was also his passion and he felt a sense of pride in his accomplishments in this field. Stanley is survived by his former wife, Patricia Gebura, daughters Karen Gebura, Alice Gebura, a granddaughter, Morgen Chalmiers, and many loving nieces and nephews throughout the country. Memorial Services for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11am at Jacksonville Chapel, 264 Jacksonville Road, Lincoln Park, NJ.
