Obituary of Susan M. Karlsen

Susan M. Karlsen, 60, was born on December 8, 1953 in Passaic, N.J. She passed away on April 6, 2014 at Hackensack Memorial hospital due to unexpected complications from surgery. Susan was the daughter of the late Edward McCauley and Joan McCauley. Susan and Roy where high school sweet hearts. They married on May 30, 1978 and bought a house in Green Pond, NJ where she still resided. Joan McCauley lives in South Carolina now and Susan's brother (Mark) lives in North Carolina. Susan and her family moved to Rockaway Twp. in 1956 in the White Meadow Lake Area in NJ. Susan went to Rockaway Twp. Schools and graduated from Morris Hills High School in 1971. Susan then went to County College of Morris and graduated with a LPN Degree (license practical nurse), after graduation Susan went on to take the state boards and became a Registered Nurse for the state of N.J. Susan worked at Riverside Hospital on a cardiac floor for many years. Susan went to work for NJ Hospice. She had a great love for taking care of people, but as with many, Susan needed a career change. Susan went on to further her career and went back to school to become a home based nurse case manager with Ability Service Network. ? Susan was an auxiliary member of the Marcella Fire House for many years. Belonged to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was on the council and was the parish nurse for many years. She had a great love the church. Susan was also a member of Nor Bu Lodge in Lake Telemark (Sons of Norway). ? Susan loved life, she always had a smile and she loved to help anyone she could. She loved her flowers, birds, music, camping and our beloved dog Sara who passed away a couple of years ago. We were going to start to look for another dog when she came home.
