After high school, he enlisted in the US Army, where he proudly served his country during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from Rutgers Business School. In 1969, Joe and his wife Ramona settled in Morris County, where they raised their family. Joe spent most of his career with ITT Corp based in Nutley, NJ in Contract Management and Negotiations. Through transfers and promotions his work re-located him and his family to Re Wing Minnesota for two years. He also spent time in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Joe took early retirement to design and develop an assisted living facility names Changebridge Inn, now Chelsea in Montville. He was inspired by the needs of his aging mother Phyllis, while seeking an alternative level of care for her that would allow her to age in place and have assistance with her daily activities. Predeceased by his daughter Denise, he is survived by his loving wife Ramona of 64 years; his children, Robert (Nitza), Gregory (Jamie) and Linda McCourt, his adoring grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Brianna, Gregory and Carina Pizzano and Connor and Cameron McCourt; his sister Grace Rinaldi and many more loving relatives and friends.
