Obituary of Gloria E. Jones

Gloria E. Jones (Erb), passed away at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ on December 12, 2017. At the age of 95 after a long, successful and fulfilling life. Born in Dover, NJ in 1922, she spent all of her life in Dover and Wharton, before moving to Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ 15 years ago. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother who also worked at Picatinny Arsenal and for the Wharton Public School system as Secretary to the Superintendent for over 20 years before retiring in 1978.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, The Wharton Fireman's Auxiliary and St. John's United Methodist Church. Over the years she became an expert needle worker including knitting, cross stitch, petit point, and crochet. She was a sportswoman, skiing with her family, and In later years she an avid golfer.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas DeWitt Jones in 1980, and also by her parents Arnot E. and Clytheria (Prisk) Erb and her brother Arnot Jr.
Gloria is survived by her loving son Thomas Jr and his wife Luanne Jones of San Antonio, TX, as well as her grand daughter Julianna VanDelden of San Antonio, and two great grand sons, Jacob and Ethan VanDelden.
Visitation will be held at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com on Wednesday, December 20th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a service to commence at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
Memorial donations can be made in her memory to St Jude's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, Gloria's favorite charity, would be appreciated.
