Obituary of Mary Ann Valente

Mary Ann (nee Dongarra) Valente of Mount Tabor, NJ passed away peacefully at her home on August 3rd with her children, sister, and husband by her side. She was 67 years old.

 

Mary Ann was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of Victoria and Nicholas Dongarra. She was employed with the American Management Association in New York City and at Saint Virgil’s Elementary School in Morris Plains, NJ for a number of years. Mary Ann met her husband, Peter, in the Bronx, and they married on March 23, 1975. Mary Ann and Peter moved to Mount Tabor in 1976, where they raised their family and watched their two beautiful daughters become mothers themselves.

 

Mary Ann is survived by her beloved husband, Peter, and two loving daughters, Stephanie Olsen and her husband, Scott, as well as Victoria Mastrangelo and her husband, Frank. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Dongarra, and best friend, Kathleen Duffy. She leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren who will miss her dearly: Benjamin, Derek, Madelyn and Alexis Olsen, as well as Valentina and Mia Mastrangelo. Mary Ann also had many loving nieces and nephews who will miss her, as well.  Mary Ann was predeceased by her brother, Michael Dongarra.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Mary Ann’s life on Monday, August 7 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm at the Norman Dean Funeral Home, Denville, NJ 07834. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 8 at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 10 North Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ 07046. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
