Teresa Gumilar, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18th at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 30 Manor Rd, Staten Island, NY. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, January 17th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Those who wish may make a donation in her memory to Sr. Margaret Rose Moran at Encore Community Services 239 West 49th Street, New York, NY 10019. Born in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island to the late Louis and Mary Gumilar, Teresa was one of four daughters. After graduating from Port Richmond High, she had a long career in administration culminating in a Vice Presidency, at the insurance brokerage firm Marsh McLennan, from which she retired in 1988.
Predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Schmeja, Magda Kemble and Cecelia Svenningsen and her niece Judith Grube; she is survived by her niece Elaine Miranda and her husband John, her nephews Frank Kemble and his wife Liliana, Ronald Svenningsen, John Svenningsen and his wife Barbara, Jeffrey Svenningsen and his wife Sandra; her nine great nieces and nephews, and her ten great great nieces and nephews.
