I'm sorry for the family's loss. I am wondering if this is the Anna Liisa Saarinen I knew as a child. My mother came from Finland at the age of 18, in 1965. She spoke no English in NY City where she met Anna Liisa who helped my mother find her way in the big city of the USA. My mother also began selling Avon and she also began working at Suomi Hovi on Lake Hopatcong in NJ, with the help of her new friend, Anna Liisa. I was born in 1968 and my brother was born in 1969. My mother married my father from Nicaragua and our new family of 4 began traveling to Suomi Hovi in the summers from NY City, where both my parents worked for the summer as my brother and I ran all around the resort. Anna Liisa had a house that we would visit while we were there. It was located across the street from the resort. I also remember visiting Anna Liisa in, I think, Queens NY when I was around 10, 1978. She would take me to her favorite bakery. I have several pictures of her. I last saw her in 2000. All of a sudden, all contact disappeared with her. Myself and my parents always wondered what happened to her. We did not know any of her family.
