Fredric T. Shapiro passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday January 5, 2016, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ.
He was 81 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, Fredric had lived in NYC for most of his life before moving to Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ in 2014.
He graduated from culinary school and worked in all aspects of the restaurant business, including Chef at many wonderful restaurants in New York City and in Florida. He was an avid music fan stemming from his father who was a big band violinist, he especially loved jazz and for many years he played the clarinet.
Fredric is survived by his wife of 15 years Arden (Davis) Melick of Denville, NJ. He is also survived by his loving daughter Nancie Shapiro and his granddaughter Savannah Shapiro, both of Massachusetts. His 3 step sons Randolph Melick of Washington, D.C. David Melick of Greenwich, CT, and Douglas Melick of Jersey City, and his 4 step grandchildren Abbey, Elinor, Ben and Emily also survive him.
A prayer service will be held on Saturday January 9, 2016, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4PM.
