Obituary of Carmela Ferlauto

Carmela was born in New York City; was a long-time resident of Mount Vernon, New York; then lived in Clearbrook, Jamesburg, NJ; followed by Franciscan Oaks, Denville, NJ. Carmela was, above all, devoted to her family and demonstrated this by dedicating her life to making them know, in so many ways, how precious and cherished they were to her. In turn, Carmela was special to, and loved by them all. She was a woman of many talents...her baking was tops, she sewed like a professional, she could wallpaper, house paint, play cards with the best of them, knit, crochet, dance and read voraciously. Then there was her extraordinary artistic talent, for she truly was an artist. Through the years, along with her talents, she did volunteer work in many capacities, helping to make the lives of others better. Carmela was a woman of great enthusiasm, fun and adventure. When her husband Albert retired at the age of 65, he and Carmela lived life to the fullest, riding camels in Egypt, donkeys in Syria, eating sushi in Japan, gondola rides in Italy, experiencing the wonders of Israel, and even walking on some of the Great Wall of China. Carmela was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Marianna Michels and Judy and her husband Pat McIvor. Carmela is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 greatchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she treasured.
