Edward “Ed” L. Sweeney, 89, passed away on Thursday June 28, 2012 at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Denville , NJ .
Ed was born in Chatham and was a longtime resident of Randolph. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a long time employee with A&P Supermarkets at the Denville and Randolph stores. After retiring as store manager, he was a mail clerk for a local bank in Morris County. He was a member of the Dover and Randolph Senior Citizens, and a member of American Legion Post 1000, Denville VFW Post 2519 and Peace Pipe Country Club. Ed was also a volunteer at Saint Clare’s Hospital (Denville) for over 20 years.
Edward was predeceased by the love of his life and wife E. Doretta Sweeney.
He is survived by his sister May Yanacone of Basking Ridge. “Uncle Ed” is survived by nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was the family’s favorite uncle.
