Bette M. Richards, 85, passed away on Friday May 18, 2012 at the Franciscan Oaks Health Care Center in Denville, NJ.
Bette was born in Mifflintown, Pa and moved to Dover, NJ before moving to Denville, NJ in 1952. Bette and her husband Bill Richards founded the Richards & Summers Inc. Insurance Agency in 1960. Bette retired in 2002. Bette was Secretary / Treasurer for the agency. Bette was a member of the Denville Community United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Denville Rotary Anns and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. For many years she was active in the Denville Chamber of Commerce, and the Denville Historical Society, and the Rockaway River Country Club.
Bette was predeceased by her husband William D. Richards in 2010.
Bette is survived by her son, David Richards of Denville, NJ and Betsy Burgess, her daughter, Nancy Sweeney and her husband Tom of Sparta NJ, and her grandchildren, Dana King and her husband Tim, Kevin Richards, Timothy, Caitlin, Colleen, and Patrick Sweeney, and her two sisters, Jean Weiler and Joan Apgar, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Jack Schwannhauser.
Bette’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Bette on website), on Monday May 21st at 9am for a funeral service at 10am at the Denville Community United Methodist Church 190 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ, committal and interment service at the Denville Cemetery. Relatives and Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday May 20th from 2-6pm. Donations in Bette's memory can be made to the Denville Community United Methodist Church.
