Richard Jon Stanton, 73, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at his home in Ogdensburg, NJ. Richard was born in Endicott, New York and was a resident of Rockaway, New Jersey for 35 years until moving to Ogdensburg in 1999.
He was a machinist at Strahman Valves in Florham Park for 33 years, but his passion was coaching both football and baseball for Rockaway Township, as well as lending his time to help the kickers at Morris Catholic High School, Montville High School, and Wallkill Valley High School for many years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Richard was given an honorable discharge with a Good Conduct Medal after serving 3 years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara Lancaster Stanton, his daughter Pamela Nordland and her husband, Scott; his daughter, Terri Stanton and her husband Gary Conte; three cherished grandchildren, Scott Nordland, Jr., Richard Nordland, and Andreanna Nordland. He is also survived by his mother, Marion Stanton, his brother Walter Stanton, and two sisters, Margaret Marinello; and Susan Hawley.
Richard's funeral service will be conducted at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Richard on website), on Wednesday, April 11th at 11am. Interment services will be in Chester. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 10th from 2-4 and 7-9.
