John H. Mendelsohn passed away on January 2, 2012 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Irvington before moving to Denville, NJ in 1974.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked as a Health Inspector for the town of Irvington. He was a Code Enforcement Officer for Sparta, East Hanover and Reddington, as well as a Site Inspector for the E.P.A. John was also the proud Administrator for the AMVETS Ambulance Corp. in Irvington, NJ.
He was predeceased by his sister Norma Mendelsohn in 2011.
John is survived by his beloved wife 43 years, Alice A. (McMyne) Mendelsohn of Denville, NJ.
His loving children Carol Coulther of Rockaway, John Mendelsohn of Landing, and Larry Mendelsohn of Denville, NJ also survive him. His grandchildren Rachel, Timothy, Ragan, Jake, Michael, Luke and Dana as well as his brother Paul Mendelsohn of Union, NJ and his sister Bette Muller of GA also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 4, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday January 5, at 10:00AM. Interment services will follow at Denville Cemetery. Please light a candle in his memory at: www.normandean.com.
