I was Stephen's dental hygienist and I always looked forward to seeing him. He had an infectious smile and always came in with a joke to make us laugh. Every time I saw him, he would tell me how lucky he was to have the best wife in the world~Lillian. I will miss Stephen

This was a man who knew how to live, a hugely positive and magnetic personality, he did it all. We only wish he were here to do more. We love him and we will miss him.

Mr. Wagner was such a great guy, he always had a smile and a gentle way about him. I am happy he and Lillian got to have their 50th, that was a milestone he got to share. I am so sorry for everyone's loss, he was so nice.

Steve always lived life to its fullest. My memories of him were working with him at ASCO, and working together on Dave Darrin’s cars some 25 years ago. He had an uncanny way of changing problems into opportunities, always solving the unsolvable. More fondly, I remember the crazy times, like sailing with him on his boat at warp speed, and the time he “borrowed” the golf cart at our wedding to go for a joy ride. These memories will stay with me, and I consider it an honor to have known Steve and to call him a friend. I will miss you, Steve.

There are two thoughts that always jump to mind when I think of Steve;
first,that I always found myself smiling or laughing whenever I was around him. Only recently I called to visit with him, and after chatting for several minutes, I asked him if he could give me their new email address. He paused a second and then said 'oh, I can't find it now but I'll send you a dirty joke on email and then you'll have our email address.' His delivery was always great, but it was his timing! He'd just catch you off guard and he made me almost choke with laughter!
Second, he always, always, showed how much he loved Lillian. And he did so to the last. A touch, a smile, his tone of voice, or his arm arond her shoulder - small gestures, a big love. Steve was a wonderful man. I'm so glad I knew him.

I am Steve's first cousin who grew up with Jackie, which we all called him. He would come zooming up our driveway in Mountainside in one of his MGs with a huge smile on his face. My sister Petrie and I were delighted to see him as he got his 6 foot 3 inch plus frame out of the car and said "come on cous, lets go for a ride."
At Christmas time we had big family parties at our home and Jackie's part was to sing Three French Hens at the top of his lungs in the Twelve Days of Christmas. He was true fun, talent and brought a smile to everyone's face. I was fortunate to see him about a month before he died. He took me all around his new home, showing me with pride and enthusiasm, his fine dining room, theatre with many activities, and his foyer with at least a hundred trophies he had won in so many sports. I did not see much of him as an adult but Steve was the light of my childhood. His father was the best godfather I could have had.

Steve was a guy who always looked at a glass half full. His humor made him a joy & pleasure to be around. In addition to the short stories I sent you I will miss him every day and our thoughts will be with you. Steve was an example of what a husband, father, grandfather should be.

Thru a fifty five year friendship, there were many happy memories including dozens of travel trips together, hi bikes at the shore, sailing, rafting and wine. Steve loves the jokes and always saw the positive side of things and ways to keep friends together. We can not help but smile when we think of our friend STEVE.

I will miss Steve for many reasons, but I think particularly for his wicked sense of humor and zest for life.
He must surely be the only senior citizen to have been pulled over by the State police for riding his motorcycle down a grassy median! (Too much traffic on the regular road, he said.)
Best wishes to the indomitable Lillian and the rest of the family,
Martin Prentice (ex Mars.)
