I have so many warm memories of Uncle Paul, my dad Tom’s big brother. I know my father truly looked up to Paul and recounted many stories of how, as a young boy, he used to try to recreate Paul’s paratrooper experiences by climbing on the roof of his house and launching army men with parachutes.
I also remember the amazing family holiday parties when a full band would evolve around Paul’s adept piano tunes, enhanced by Aunt Pat’s lively singing. They always came through with the much requested encore performance!
But mostly, I remember Uncle Paul for his kind and generous spirit and love of life and family. He was an exceptional person and a true optimist who touched the lives of all he met.

Hey pop,
This is probably going to be the hardest thing for me to deal with in life, mainly because you were what I looked up to. Being a WWII vet, marrying your high school sweetheart and most of all being the most outstanding human being I ever met. You inspired me to be a better person and made me want to succeed in life. And when I mean succeed I'm not talking about money or anything materialistic but just appreciating all my surroundings. Just being able to accept everything for what its worth and making a joy out of life. You taught me that happiness comes from within and if you can carry that with you the rest is easy. You gave me that gift and I'm forever grateful. There wont be a day that passes where I'm not thinking about you. Like you always told me "Dont get discouraged". Im gunna keep my chin up and just do what I know you'd want me to do...make a good life for myself. I'm gunna do my best to make you proud and I'm grateful to have you looking over me. Rest in peace to the greatest man I've ever known. I'll be looking foward to the day we meet again. Love you pop.
PS Tell Nana and Chris I said hi.

Mr. and Mrs. Shea were two of the most kind and generous grandparents that I have ever met. I'll never forget moments of my childhood at their house - especially when they were playing instruments. I can recall when Shea and I were making a "fort" out of their couch cushions one time at a sleep over. We used all of their cushions from around the house without them knowing. Once they found out we could tell they were upset. Their form of punishment was for us to put everything back to order and watch Mr. Shea play the piano as Mrs. Shea sang along with him. I never experienced anything like that before and think that it was the coolest punishment I ever went through growing up. They also took me to my first circus, Ringling Brothers Circus, and my first Yankees Game (Don Mattingly hit a solo home run to win the game). I will cherish all the great moments with them for the rest of my life.

What great memories I have of you at the piano and Pat with the microphone bringing joy to everyone with their entertainment. Paul was always there to make sure everyone was taken care of and enjoying themselves. Now Paul and Pat are together once again helping the angels voices to sing a little sweeter.

I'll always remember Uncle Paul for his love of music and how easy and effortless he made it seen to play numerous instruments. I can remember being so amazed and in awe of his talent. It was always fun when Uncle Paul and Pat would come over for parties and holidays. In fact, it seemed like whenever they were around, for whatever reason, a party would break out. His quiet way and huge musical talent was a great complement to Aunt Pat's show business flair ("Won't you come home Bill Bailey!) and as a kid I was always excited when they came to visit. I remember having musical instruments around the house thanks to Uncle Paul (a saxophone, flute, and violin)and his influence played a big part in my love of music to this day. I also remember so many great times at Uncle Paul and Aunt Pat's beach house on Long Beach Island. They were always extremely generous and gracious and I have nothing but great memories of many great times with them both. Uncle Paul was a class act and a great man. I'll have fond memories of him always.
