Obituary of Robert Emmet Gibbons

On Friday, November 25, 2011 we lost our beloved husband and father, Robert Emmet "Barney" Gibbons, to a tragic accident at our home of 36 years in Rockaway Twp., NJ. He was 65 years old.
Born in Jersey City, NJ to Irish immigrants, he grew up in Edgewater before moving to Rockaway in 1975.
Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and soon after began his career as a Mechanical Engineer. At the time of his death he was employed at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway.
He will be dearly missed by his "Tootsie"--adoring wife and best friend of 41 years, Patricia E. (Coogan) Gibbons. He leaves a hole in the hearts of his loving children Robert Gibbons & wife Erica, Christine Gibbons, Andrew Gibbons, and Maura Gibbons Papi & her husband Jeff Papi. He is also survived by his sister Eileen Sullivan, and his grandson, Cameron John Gibbons.
Friends & family are welcome to visit with the Gibbons Family on Thursday from 5:00-9:00 PM at Norman Dean Funeral Home at 16 Righter Ave. in Denville , NJ 07834. A Liturgy of Christian Burial Mass will be held on Friday December 2, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway, NJ. Please light a candle in his memory at: www.normandean.com.
