Charles J. Moratz, 83, passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2011 in Brooksville, FL.
Charles was born in Janesville, WI, and was a resident of the Lake Intervale section of Parsippany from 1964 until he moved to Spring Hill, Fl in 2005. While a resident he was active in the lake, coaching the first girl’s volleyball team, he also served on the board of directors and as president of the Lake Intervale Management Association.
He is a Korean War veteran serving in theater as a corporal in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Rutgers in 1961. He was an Auditor for Bell Labs in Whippany for 40 years. He was Scout Master of Troop 1 BSA in Boonton from 1966 – 1973 and on served on the board of directors for many years. He took great pride in being part of their 100 years of Scouting. He was devoted to his family and passionate about Green Bay Packers football.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years Mary Alice Moratz in 2008.
He is survived by his children and spouses, John Moratz of Spring Hill, Fl., Charles J. Jr. and Donna Moratz of Lexington, KY., Martin and Margaret Moratz of Lake Intervale, and Chantal Moratz PhD and Karl Salzwedel PhD of Olney, MD. and his seven grandchildren, Charles Joseph “CJ” Moratz III, Donald Andrew Moratz, Amy Moratz, Patrick Moratz, Katrina Moratz, Sydney Grayson Salzwedel and Zoe Dare Salzwedel.
Charles’ funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Charles on website), on Novemeber 29th at9am for a 10Am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Catherine Siena Church, Mountain Lakes, NJ committal and interment at Madonna Cemetery Fort Lee, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on November 28th Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
