Obituary of Arnold Oscar Ellsworth Larsen

Arnold Oscar Ellsworth Larsen, 97, of Denville entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2011. He died peacefully with his daughter, Lorraine, at his side at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville.
Arnold was born December 1, 1013 in East Orange and lived in Denville before residing at the Boonton Firemen's Home. Arnold joined the East Orange Fire Department in 1937 and retired in 1966 at the rank of Captain. His last assignment was 2 Truck (Big Red) at Hollywood Plaza. Between Arnold, his brother Arthur, his son Bobby, and four nephews, the Larsen family has collectively served the Fire Department for over 190 years, a feat that most likely will not be duplicated.
He worked at Mallon Pontiac in Irvington and W.V. Egbert Plumbing Supply in West Orange.
Arnold was pre-deceased by his parents Andrew and Elsa Larsen; his beloved wife Ruth B. Larsen in 1990; his siblings Arthur, Thomas, John, Mildred North and Evelyn Schallis; and most recently his grandson Christopher Blair of Louisiana.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Patricia) of Florida; Lorraine Larson of Denville; Margorie Staer of Forked River; and Robert (Linda) of Colonia; seven grandchildren- Laurie (Charles) Scaturo, Jeffrey A. Larson, Victoria (Eric) Schuster, Julia A. Larson, Ian R. Staer, Scott (Heather) Tadej, Tara (Luis) Tirado and his great-grandchildren Brett, Hannah and Gregory Scaturo; Alison Schuster; Ryan and Justin Tirado; Sean, Ryan and Andrew Blair as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday October 24, 2011 at 11AM at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ.
