Martin D. McParland Sr. Retired Newark and Rockaway Twp. Police Officer. AGE: 81 . Wantage, NJ
Martin D.(Packy) McParland Sr., died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday October 6, 2011, at Morristown Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Newark NJ, on August 30, 1930, He was the son of John and Delia.
Martin was a Police Officer with the Newark Police Department, from 1955-1981 and Rockaway Twp. Police 1983-2003. Prior to joining the Police Departments, he served in the US Army, from 1951-1953, during the Korean War, with the 39 Field Artillery, 3Rd Infantry division as PFC. Martin was a member of FOP Lodge 12, VFW Lodge 161, American Legion 344, NJ Ret. Police & Fire Lodge 1.
Martin was predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Mary (Cunniffe) in 2002, his two sisters and six brothers. Martin is survived by his dear brother Thomas and his wife Catherine McParland of Clark, NJ, his four children: Martin Jr., John and his wife Marek, his daughters Marie and her husband Andy Romo, Maureen and her husband Ron Snyder. His loving grandchildren, Kyle, Kyra and Molly McParland, Nicole, Alan and Thomas Snyder, his step grandson Danny Rome, many nieces, nephews and his loyal pet Mango.
Martin's funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ on Friday Oct. 14th at 8:45am for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Mary's Church Wharton, NJ committal and interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday Oct. 13th at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Please share a memory of Martin by lighting a candle at www.normandean.com.
