I have thought about Ginny for years, knew she went to California and was involved in archaeology, and was happy to share time with her many years before that. I met Ginny in 1970 at St. Mary's College, where she lived across the hall from me with her roommate Tracey. We had so much fun that year, and I was so happy to find a New Jersey friend. My first ride in an airplane was with Ginny that year when we came home for break. We decided to be roomates for sophomore year. She was so proud of her large family, and I did visit her home in Denville once. She had a great laugh, and I love the way she danced! I'll never forget the night she tried to climb the Golden Dome, how she became the first female on the Notre Dame fencing team, and how she was a proud member of the ND Spirit Club, who painted the helmets gold the night before every home game. She embraced life and always made her presence felt. At the time, I did not know much about diabetes, but Ginny made it look easy. It never slowed her down, and she educated me about it. I can hear her laugh right now as I'm writing this. The picture of her on this web site is adorable, and really captures her I think. She looks the same except for the long hair. She has short, spiky hair in college. It matched perfectly with her spitfire personality. I thought she was amazing. I regret that we lost touch, but I was so happy and proud to hear about her wonderful accomplishments. I knew she would be a trailblazer. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. May the Memorial Mass be as beautiful as Ginny was. I will be away this weekend, or I would join you all to say goodbye to my, dear, fun college friend. She leaves us way too soon.

Ginny was very special to so many and in so many ways. She was joyful even in adversity, loving to her family and friends and interested in all around her. She will be sorely missed but has left a great legacy. I will always remember her as the cute little red haired girl in St. Mary's. Eternal peace to you dear Ginny.
