To the Olenowski family,
I just learned of Kathy's death. Hard to believe really - too painful and too soon. I do not have the honor of knowing you Megan and Caitlin, but having been in school with both you Mother and your Father, I can imagine how wonderful each of you is.
John, I am sorry for your loss. I am certain that you have many wonderful memories of Kathy and of your times together.
I hope knowing that Kathy is in each of you - her joy, her laughter, her lighthearted attitude, her ambition, her intelligence - is some comfort.
Please accept my warmest wishes and sense of shared sadness.
Deborah

My heart hurts! I knew Kathy was ill but had no idea how bad. Coach O was my basketball coach at Morris Catholic and Kathy would keep me up-to-date on how his college team was doing. Kathy always had a smile and she always would order special things for me. My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I am so very sad to hear of her passing but glad to know her legacy -Surprises in Store - will still be open! With much sympathy - Dawn Wallace.

I remember Kathy from Surprises in Store. I was in the store recently and wondered where Kathy was. I'm sad to learn she has passed. It is hard to believe. Kathy was truly a kind woman. I remember her helping me choose a lamp, a table and a mirror from her store. I remember Kathy and I talking about our daughters who both love to dance. Kathy told me about the mirrors and flooring she put up in her home for her daughter so that she could dance. I loved her idea and would like to do the same for my daughter. I remember Kathy's stories shared and the friendly and kind way she spoke to everyone. She will be so missed. Sincerely, Michelle

We just heard of Kathy's passing on the day of her funeral and were saddened and shocked. It was obvious to everyone who went in the store how much she loved it there. She had a fantastic memory - would always ask about events we'd spoken about before. My memory of her will be that every time I saw her we had a good old laugh about something. What a sad loss for Denville. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have been shopping in your store for several years. I usually rush in at the last minute and need a gift for either that day-or the next! Kathy was always so great at helping me pick the perfect item! She would always comment on my two girls (7 and 2)- because of you--her two girls! She always had a funny story or bit of advice for me..I've heard a lot about both of you! You are so blessed to have had her as your mother..she will truly be remembered as a wonderful woman! I will see you in the store again soon.

My favorite time of the year was when the Vera Bradley Release would occur at Surprises in Store. Kathy and I would laugh and chat and I loved how we would talk about our favorites. Kathy would even tell me the ones that were her least favorite of the collection. Kathy was the sweetest, kindest woman around. My memories of her will last with every Vera purchase

I just received your email and I have to say how shocked I was. She was such a kind, soft spoken lady. I use to work at brighton and she would come in and shop and I would come to her store for the same reason. What a loss. My heart goes out to all of you. I knew she was sick but didn't ever think it was this bad. I would come in to say hi and they said she would be back soon. How sad and so sorry for you loss.

Mrs. O was such a wonderful, kind and loving woman who touched the hearts of so many throughout the years. I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. O for over 20 years. She was our Brownie Troop leader, class mom, a great friend and someone you could always rely on to be there for you. She always had a kind smile and a warm heart. I would always visit her in the store whenever I was home from college and we would go on mother daughter dinners with Meg and my mom to catch up. So many great memories over the years. I will truly miss her, but her amazing spirit lives on with her family and she will always be remembered. The family is in my thoughts and prayers, love you guys.

Mrs.O was a great friend to our family. I thought of her as my aunt with her beautiful smile and her glittering eyes whenever she looked at someone. There is no explaination to what happened. I will remember her warm smile whenever she saw me, and I will always cherish the teddy bear she gave to me, the day I was born. She will always have a special place in my heart forever. Mrs.O was one of the nicest people I've ever meet in my life with her laugh and her love for everyone. I will sadly miss her.

I Did Not Die
by Melinda Sue Pacho
Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

The world will be a little emptier without Kathy. We met in a professional sense but I knew right away I wanted Kathy as a personal friend. Her sweet smile and her thoughtful gentle personality will live in the heart of all who were lucky enough to know her. I loved picking up lunch at Sergio's and sharing it in the backroom of the store. We talked business but also about our families. Kathy was an intensely loving and proud mother and her amazing girls are a testament to her wonderful upbringing.
