Obituary of Margaret Jane Gray

Ms. Margaret "Peggy" Gray passed away at the Victoria Mews in Boonton, NJ on May 31, 2011. She was the daughter of Leslie and Margaret Gray.
Peggy was a 1928 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Elmira College (NY) in 1932. She held the head dietician position at Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley, NJ for many years. She was then recruited to design and set up the cafeteria at Warner Corp. in NYC. Warner Corp later became Warner-Lambert and relocated its corporate headquarters to Parsippany, NJ.
Peggy moved from Nutley and settled in Denville where she became very active in many community causes. She was a charter (founding) member of the P.R.I.D.E. Council with her longtime friend Muriel Hepner. They were presented with awards for their efforts at Beautification and Ecology for Denville, by President L. Johnson. Peggy was the one who acquired the current building that houses The Denville Museum. She spent many years working to establish a community museum for the town and served in various officer positions and also in many volunteer roles.
Peggy is survived by her nieces, Lesley Parks and husband William of Clifton, NJ and Margaret Smith and husband James of Budd Lake, NJ, her nephew James Danks and wife Judy of Essex, CT, four great nieces and five great great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Beatrice Danks, in addition to her parents.
The family would like to offer sincerest thanks to the staff and friends in the Victoria Mews assisted living facility in Boonton, NJ and to the Vitas Home Hospice and Hospice of NJ for the caring commitment made to Peggy by their dedicated nurses and many thanks to the companions from HomeInstead of Succasunna, NJ. Her last years were enriched by all of you!
Funeral services will be held at 5PM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834. Friends may visit prior to the service at the funeral home from 2-5PM. Please light a candle in Peggy's memory at www.normandean.com.
