Obituary of Betty Lou Cully

Betty Lou Cully (Pfitzenmayer) passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Cedar Knolls, NJ on May 5, 2011. She was 77 years old. Born and raised in Cedar Grove she had lived in Cedar Knolls, NJ for the last 45 years. She graduated with Honors from Bloomfield High School in 1952, and achieved her degree with Honors in Medical Laboratory Technology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, NJ in 1954, while there she was a member of Phi Zeta Kappa, and President of the Medical Arts Club. She later achieved her Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist from John F. Kennedy Medical Center, School of Nuclear Medicine Technology in Edison, NJ in 1978. Betty Worked as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for many years at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ before retiring in the late 1990's. She belonged to the Society of Nuclear Medicine, National and NY Metro Chapters, the Clinical Assay Society, National and NY Chapters and was Cerified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and the State of NJ Department of Environmental Protection. Betty also loved cooking, collecting books, and all things outdoors such as gardening, camping, fishing, flowers, and she was a Girl Scout leader in Cedar Knolls. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Bill Cully of Cedar Knolls, NJ and her loving children James Cully and Joan Cully both of Cedar Knolls, Brian and his wife Jennifer Cully of Landing, NJ and Robert and his wife Susan of Bethlehem, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Thomas, Jack, Catie and Sean Cully and her siblings Casey Pfitzenmayer and Joan Vallachi both of PA. Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday May 10, 2011 from 9:30 - 11:30AM at the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 followed by an 11:30AM serviced in the funeral home.
