Obituary of Gertrude F. Chemnitius

Gertrude F. Chemnitius, 92, passed away peacefully on September 8th at the Franciscan Oaks Health Center in Denville.
Born in Germany in 1920, Gertrude immigrated to the US in 1925. She married Eric Chemnitius in 1950, and the couple settled in Glen Ridge to raise their family. They moved to Denville in 2007. Gertrude was an avid knitter and enjoyed classical music and reading. She especially loved time spent with her family.
Surviving are Eric, her husband of 62 years, her daughters Susan (David) Peters of Houston Texas and Joan (Ray) Best of Mountain Lakes, six grandchildren and a great grandson.
A memorial service will be held on November 9 at 3 p.m. at the Glen Ridge Congregational Church.
