Obituary of Casimer Edward Vance

Casimer Vance, 95, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Denville, NJ.
Cas was born in Midland, Pennsylvania in 1916 and was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, class of 1938. In the late 1930s, he moved to New York City, where he met and married Elizabeth (nee Suplina) Vance in 1940. The two settled in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, where they raised their children Gail, Maryann, and John. While in Brooklyn, Cas was an active member of the Men's Club of Bay Ridge and the Notre Dame Club of N.Y., which awarded him Man of the Year honors.
He spent most of his accounting management career with Diamond International, now Alltrista. After retiring in 1981, Cas and Betty moved to Whiting, NJ, where they lived until 1999. For the last twelve years, they resided at Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ.
Cas is survived by Betty, his wife of 70 years, his children, Gail Vance Civille of Warren, NJ, Maryann Cozier of Chester, NJ, and John Vance of Tacoma, WA, his grandchildren Jocelyn, Suzanne, Michael, Megan, and Sean, great grandchildren Matthew, Julia, Caroline, Catherine, Alison, Camryn, and Caelin, and his brother Walter Ivancevic of Kennebunkport, ME.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 25 at Norman Dean Home for Services [ www.normandean.com] from 10am-12 noon; a funeral mass at St. Catherine of Sienna, Mountain Lakes will follow at 12:30pm. A private burial will be held the following day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Trinity Missions, 9001 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Springs, MD 20903-3626.
