Paul and I grew up across the street from each other on Hinchman Ave until I moved away in 1974. I always considered him a good friend and spent a lot of time with him and his Mom. Truly great people! I still remember when he broke his leg while we were in junior high and I spent days making sure he had his homework and whatever else he needed while Julie (that's what I called her even though her real name was Julia) was at work. I was very suprised and deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He will forever be in my heart.

I was Paul's girlfriend for about a year or so when I was in high school (1975ish). (A girlfriend from MK chorus hooked us up....) We broke up, I went to college and lived for 20 years in Wash. DC. After almost 35 years, Paul tracked me down via email somehow, and we caught up again. He was very fond of sending me funny emails.... When I came back to Rockaway a few years ago, we got back in touch again. I remember his son Peter was a spitting image of him (I thought at first he was Paul!). I had not spoken to him in a couple years since then, and was very saddened to read in the paper of what to me was his sudden departure. I cannot think of one bad word to say about Paul. I have nothing but fond memories. He was fun, talented, kind, generous, devoted, caring and chivalrous. A rare combination these days.... Although I don't know the circumstances of his death, I am very saddened by what for me was an unexpected departure. I wish him only peace and all the good things that should come his way, wherever he is. And for his children, just know that your Dad was a really good man.... RIP Paul Nogay

I have many great memories of Paul and his family. Paul was my godfather. My first memory is when I was 5 and he was pushing me on my grandparents tire swing in thier yard. Paul was a very loving and caring man who would do anything to help the people around him. He raised two beautiful children who have as much compassion as he did. He will be missed but never forgotten. We all love and miss you.

Dear Peter and Jessica,
I remember your Dad when we were in our teen years. He was a good friend to my brother and soon became like one of the family. I remember how kind he was, and what a wonderful sense of humor he had. I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

Jess and Pete: I am so sorry for your loss. I love you both and pray for strength and comfort during this difficult time. We grew up together and I have wonderful memories of "Uncle Paul". I can’t remember much of my childhood that didn’t involve Uncle Paul. He was always someone that our family could go to in a time of need and I truly hope that he felt the same about us. I believe he was my father’s oldest friend and he was able to witness myself and my siblings grow up as our families were always very close. His home was a second home for me and especially so when my father lived there (I believe when I was in middle school). I have happy memories of our dads spending time together throughout the years, laughing and joking while Jess and I ran around the house, went swimming and tried our best to ignore our fathers (as was typical for adolescent girls). He was always so kind and seemed to put others before himself. Rest In Peace Uncle Paul, you will definitely be missed! <3

I think Paul was my brother and me's first friend in Denville.
This would have been around 1967, I think. He was a cool guy with a guitar.
Years later, I moved in with him for a while. This was as Julia was in her last months.
Paul worked swing shift AND did everything for his mother. He never really slept.
With all this going on, he still made time to be a dad.
A good man in a tough life.
