Doug you were like a brother to me. We shared many good times over our 12 years of friendship.
From motorcycling to working on cars the time spent with you was priceless.
You were always thoughful and caring toward my family and it will never be forgotten.
It has taken me weeks to get the strength to not only find this site but to type my thoughts.
God bless your family and the ones that meant so much to you such as Laura.
Save me a space next to you and my dad- we will see each other again

Doug- You are in my thoughts and heart constantly. You truly had a special talent at keeping honesty, laughter and integrity as the core of who you were. No one can deny that. I will cherish the memories we had and pray that Laura and your loved ones can find comfort in knowing that you lived your life exactly the way you wanted, not what anyone expected! Rest in Peace...

In Loving Memory of Doug posted a condolence
Sunday, January 23, 2011
To some Doug was a quiet guy, but I think he can best be described as a private, beautiful, and loving person. To those who had the privilege of knowing him, he was a good listener with a huge heart. Doug was fun, supportive, and devoted. He would do anything for his loved ones. He could make me laugh like no one else could.
While he was a private person, anyone who met him even once knew he was a car aficionado. Cars were his greatest passion, if he wasn’t learning about cars, he was working on his car detailing it, or cleaning it. When Doug was younger he would iron his jeans just to go out and wash his car because he had to be dressed nice to undertake the important task of properly cleaning a car. If it wasn’t his car, it was a neighbor’s or a friend’s. Everyone knew his passion for cars and many called upon him for help. He offered his assistance without hesitation. He was such a fanatic that others were embarrassed when he saw their cars dirty or uncared for. “Cars were meant for driving,” that was his motto and he’d drive just to drive.
His lunch cooler was his treasure chest. One of his favorite things to do was stop at the junk yards. He’d scavenger for small car parts. Next to the left-over Cherrios I’d find electrical fuses, gear shifts or little light bulbs; these were his treasures. There are a couple of car parts on my night table next to my Tiffany clock and they’ll be there a long time. I am lucky enough to have these little pieces from a beautiful person who made such a big difference in my life and the life of so many others.
Doug changed and upgraded cars more frequently than most people upgrade their cell phones. Each car needed the perfect wheels to match. Doug loved to do burnouts and one time at his friend Craig’s house he smacked up a wheel doing a burnout. To add to the embarrassment of smacking up a wheel, he had to call me to come and get him. We both thought this was very funny. Doug had a great sense of humor.
It has recently come to my attention that Doug was a counselor not only to me, but to many of his friends and family members. One of the beautiful things about Doug was that he kept their private business as quiet as his own. Maybe this was because Doug was very sensitive or a home body or big hearted. There are so many wonderful things about him.
Doug loved ice cream. All his friends knew if it was in their freezer when he came over, it would not be there by the time he left. He loved Toca Bell and Pizza Hut, they were like his middle name. Doug loved music with a passion but not country music. If any of his friends listened he was not shy about telling them how bad it was. So he was a little stubborn, maybe a lot. He planned to be at least an hour late for all family events and often slipped out undetected before the occasion was over.
Doug loved hockey (the Devils) and baseball (the Yankees). He’d try to impress me with his sports knowledge anytime the sport trivia was on. And I was impressed. Each time he got it right, he’d high-five me. These are some of the memories I will treasure.
I had the privilege of driving just to drive with Doug. I will treasure his little car pieces and the time we had together. If Doug were here today, I know he wouldn’t want us to cry, he'd want us to continue to enjoy the ride.

Doug, we never got to spend much time together, but the memories I have will always be precious to me. As many have said, you always brought a smile and laughter to those around you with your hilarious sense of humor.I've thought of you often, remembering me, you, and Nicky as kids, racing down your street on anything with wheels. We would always argue over who was going to ride the "green tractor" as it was a handful with three wheels and rarely made it to the bottom, shiny side up.Gonna miss you Doug. May God bless and keep you.

Even though we have not been in touch for some time, I will miss him greatly and never forget all the great times we spent laughing and goofing off during our childhood. Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to him and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I Love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
I know this poem well, and I want very much to believe it is true. Sometimes when things are hardest I feel completely and totally alone. I struggle onward, trying to fight my way through to a brighter time. It can be easy to doubt that God is with me when I feel so cold and alone, but I realize that if I were truly alone during those times I wouldn't make it. I'm not capable of pulling myself through trials and tribulations on my own, so I know that God must be there, carrying me through—even when I'm too incoherent to notice Him. God is there all the time. It is my own senses that change. Sometimes I can feel Him and sometimes I can't, but God is constant and true.
Rest in Peace my dear friend Doug

Although I have not seen Doug in many years, I am sure that if we ran into eachother it would be just like old times! I remember great times like going for rides on the motorcycles or just hanging out! Anything was fine because he always made everyone laugh! I remember going with the guys to Denville to go bridge/tree jumping and my mother warning Doug that if I jumped off the bridge/tree she would be mad at him because I was left in his hands because he was the only responible one in the group! Well, needless to say...I ended up in the hospital the next day for ruptured cysts and mom was not happy! This was a great time! I will NEVER forget you Doug~thank you for ALL of the memories!! Gosh Doug it's been so long since I'd seen you but I asked for you so often..everytime I'd see your parents just how you were doing and what you were up to - You were such a light Doug. Such a great presence about you, such a great sense of humor, so loving, so caring - so composed, reserved but from one sec to another, you'd be making anyone laugh.. You were so humble: much attributed to such loving parents you had; such wonderful siblings. You made an impression on whoever you left, that's for sure. I wish we would have gotten more time to catch up - to remain friends but for the time we did have with you, I'm sure all who knew you are very thankful, I know I am. I am blessed to have known you, Although cut extremely short, you'll forever be in our hearts. We were all so blessed to have you in our lives -as long or short as it may have been. Thank you for being such a sweet soul Doug.
