Mrs. Scardino was born in Italy and came to the United States in 1955 and was a resident of the Bronx, NY and Haworth, NJ before moving to Rockaway Township 7 years ago. Michela was a dress maker for Geoffrey Beene and Oscar del Renta in New York City, NY for 50 years retiring 8 years ago. Michela was a member of St. Bernard’s Church at Mount Hope, NJ and was a member of the Fox Hills Italian club. Michela was predeceased by her husband Salvatore in March 2010, her sister Domenica Romeo and her brother’s in law, Alfred Cararo, Nicolo Romeo, and Angelo Stancanelli. Michela is survived by her devoted daughter and son in law, Michele Friezo and Michael, her devoted son and daughter in law, Frank Scardino and Christie, her cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Caroline, Trey and Blake, her sisters Maria Stancanelli, Filippa Romeo and her husband Nicolo, Betty Perniciaro and her husband Jerry, her brother Phil Buzzone and his wife Agnes, and many nieces and nephews. Michela’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Michela on web site), on Wednesday December 22nd at 9:30am for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Bernard’s Church, Mount Hope, NJ, entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday December 21st at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
