We remember Woody being a good sport! The first time we met he was supporting the 1999 Marathon softball game of Sr. "teachers" vs Child Care students. He also loved his White Oreos :).

We used to tease him about "Elwood" which as I remember he didn't like to use. I remember his hearty - lively laughter. Thanks for the memory Woody! My deepest condolences to you Ruth - I enjoyed the description (however brief) of your relationship. I truly hope that your love for each other will live on and sustain you as well as your faith.
In His love, Dan

One of the brightest candles this world has seen went out when Woddy passed. He defined the term "gentle man" and he is one of my heroes.

I'll always remember the fun times we had together and all you did for me in the past. You were never one to mince words, be politically correct or walk away from a good argument. I always enjoyed our lively conversations, especially in regards to our J-E-T-S Jets. We will miss you Uncle Woody.

Ruth,
You are in our thoughts and prayers, as you have been for a while. You, too, have been a valiant fighter, as you have taken care of Woody through all of this.
We never got to know Woody that well, but it was always very obvious that you had a strong love for each other, and were happy together.
I know you will always cherish the time you had together, and the wonderful memories.
We will see you on Saturday.
Love,
Kathy, Aunt "O", and Kayla

Dear Ruthie,
We were so sorry to hear about Woody's death. He fought a long and courageous battle. He was a very special man and we have fond memories of times spent together; parties at Yobs, and your visit with us in SC. He had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. We will always remember him. Wish we could be there for the service. We will be there in spirit on Tuesday night.
God be with you during this time.
With love, Pat & Joe

I met Woody only a handful of times but I feel like I know him well from my many talks with Ruthie. I love it when Ruth shares stories of Woody’s early years (related beautifully in the obituary) and of their joyful time together. Ruthie fairly glows when she speaks of her man and Woody’s death won’t change this. Ruthie has memories she will always cherish. Anyone who could bring so much joy to such a wonderful lady is himself a wonderful man.
