Robert Edmund Quirk, 82, of Denville, New Jersey, crossed over to heaven, November 7, 2010 by complications of Alzheimer's disease (he was at peace and reaching for the light.). He was born in Manchester New Hampshire, April 17 1928. Robert graduated from Boston College, Boston Mass., 1949 BS Math & English he was on a full basketball and GI bill scholarship. He was married to Patricia “Patty” Gormley Quirk. Robert was a Detective for the New Jersey State Gaming Commission at the Meadowlands race track. Robert was a Minor League Baseball Player for Springfield, Ohio Giant's 1948-1951 he played the positions of pitcher and third base. He loved to take car trips with Patty and play a good round of golf. He was survived by his wife Patty and his step sons: John, Ed, Hunter and Paul.
On Thursday November 18th 2010 a memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine's Church (Mt. Lakes NJ, at 11:00 am, Committal interments services on Friday November 19th at 1pm at New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 400 Morris Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834.
