Obituary of Grace Schumann

Grace Marjorie Schumann, 79, died on Monday November 1, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.
She was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York and grew up in Huntington, Long Island. She later moved to Parsippany, NJ in 1970. In 1991 she and her husband moved to the Fox Hills Community in Rockaway Township, NJ. While living there she became active with the Fox Hills Women's Club, and served as a secretary, she had served as a secretary for her building.
She had graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, NY and later graduated from Mrs. Skinner's Secretarial School also in Huntington.
She retired in 1991 as a Personnel Representative with Prudential Insurance Company in Parsippany, NJ where she had worked for over twenty years.
She has been a long time member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Mt. Lakes, NJ and had served on the Ladies Guild, with the Social Ministry, as an usher as well as in many other capacities like Vacation Bible School, food collections, memorials coordinator, chairperson for quilts for Missions, bazaars, Operation Lap Robes for nursing home patients, crafts for church picnics, and an organizer of church trips.
She had also served as a treasurer with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society in Morris County area, she volunteered with the local Meals on Wheels, and she worked with the Lifebook Project through NORWESCAP in Denville.
Her husband Charlie O. Schumann died Jan. 29, 2006.
She is survived by her children Charles O. and his wife Joan Schumann of Forest Virginia, Karen G. and her husband Jeffrey D'Elia of Livingston, NJ, and Holly A. and her husband John Sibilia of Budd Lake, NJ, as well as her loving grandchildren Eric W. Schumann and Craig A. Schumann. She is also survived by her brother Frank Downs of Stony Brook, New York.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Nov. 5, 2010 at 10:00 AM at King of King Lutheran Church Rt. 46 West Mt. Lakes, NJ 07046.
