Eileen Patricia Conklin (nee Wallace) passed away on Friday, April 23rd, at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, NJ, following a brief illness.
Eileen is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Charlie, her three cherished daughters: Trish Colucci and her husband, Paul, of Flanders, NJ, Deborah Vogt and her husband, Alan, of Wayland, MA, and Kathleen Clark and her husband, Paul, of Battle Creek, MI, and her loving sister, Jeanne M. Dolan of Newburgh, NY.
Eileen is also survived by, and was an incredibly proud grandmother of, eight beautiful grandchildren: Shannon, Alison, Michael, Andrea, Carter, Teddy, Molly and Danny.
Eileen was born on St. Patrick’s Day in Brooklyn, New York, and was a resident of Denville for more than 35 years. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and held dual citizenship in both the United States and the Republic of Ireland.
As a Denville resident, Eileen was active in many community-minded organizations including the St. Clare’s Harvest Festival, and was a member of the Denville 75th anniversary committee, the Joey Bella Memorial Fund, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey and Morris County Meals on Wheels. She held an administrative position with the Township of Denville’s Board of Adjustment for over 10 years.
In their retirement, Eileen and Charlie enjoyed spending winters at their home in Bradenton, FL. Always active in community life, Eileen served as chairperson for the Tara Lites Golf Association and St. Clare’s Ladies’ Guild associated with Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church in Bradenton, FL.
Eileen’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Eileen on web site), on Tuesday April 27th at 8:45am for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial Service at St. Matthew the Apostle Church at Randolph, NJ, Friends and family are welcome for visitation at the funeral home on Monday April 26th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, the Conklin family requests that donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of New Jersey.
