Elizabeth J. "Betty" Herrmann, age 82, of Mt. Arlington, formerly of Denville, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Mt. Arlington Senior Living Center, where she had been a resident for 2 years. She had fought a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease for over two decades.
Born in Dover, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillie (Dufford) Roberts. Betty had been employed as a tax collector and Treasurer of Schools for Denville Twp, retiring in 1996. She was a lifetime member of Denville Community Church, a member of Grace Methodist Church in Dover, Denville Golden Age Club, the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association of Morris County, and Board of Tax Collectors and Treasurers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony W. Herrmann Jr. and daughter, Kathleen Fried. She is survived by her sons, Thomas "Tosh" and wife Jo-Ann of Hopatcong, and Dave Herrmann of Landing; son-in-law Mitch Fried of Hopatcong; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Brian, Aimee, Nicole, and Christopher; great-granddaughter Madison; and brothers, James "Bill" Roberts of Birmingham, Al and Raymond G. Roberts of Randolph.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 24, at 1:00pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville. Burial will follow in Denville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit Tuesday from 5-8pm and on Wednesday from 12:00pm until the time of service.
