James W. Ackerman, 92 Denville
Passed away on December 28th after a short illness. He had been residing in the Franciscan Oaks Life Care Center for the past 6 years. Mr. Ackerman was born
and raised in Passaic, NJ and lived for more than 50 years in Clifton prior to
moving to Denville. He served in the US Navy as a radio technician during World War II, primarily in the South Pacific. After working for Dumont in the early days of television he eventually became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1979.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Bertha Faure Ackerman and a son, James H. Ackerman. He is survived by a son, Robert and his wife Kathleen of Denville, four grandchildren - John of Las Vegas, NV, Scott of Hawaii, William of Wilmington, DE, and David of Tulsa, OK, and by two great grandchildren - Alyssa and Alex, both of Merrimack, NH.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Denville Community Church (UMC).
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ. ( www.normandean.com)Viewing is scheduled from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday, December 29th, and funeral at Norman Dean on Wednesday, December 30th at 11:00am.
