John D. Simpson, 96, died Thursday Dec. 17, 2009 at St. Clares Hospital in Denville. He was born Dec. 8, 1913 in Dundee, Scotland and he had lived in Belleville, Clifton, and Parsippany before moving to Mine Hill, NJ 35 years ago. He had been a Parts man for B.S.A. Motorcycles and for Slegers Forbes Motorcycle Shop in Whippany for many years retiring in 1978. He was a 60 year Master Mason as a member of Essex Lodge No. 7, Caldwell, NJ and the Independent Order of Foresters (Scottish Clans). He had also served with honor in the British army during WWII. His loving wife Jean predeceased him in May 2005. He is survived by his daughter and her husband June and Errol Ernstrom of Denville. Mr. Simpson was known for his intelligence, honesty, wonderful sense of humor, his ability to fix clocks, and his gardening skills. He also loved to vacation in Ocean Grove, NJ. He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted daughter June. He also leaves his "second family" Marge Turiansky and Christine Smith who will deeply miss "Uncle John."
