Obituary of Dorothy Irene Coates

Dorothy Irene Coates passed away peacefully at her home in the Indian Lake section of Denville, NJ on November 23, 2009. She was 85 years old. Born in Somerville, NJ she had lived in Denville for the last 64 years. Dorothy was a member of the Denville Community Church for 63 years, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, a faithful .member of the choir and the United Methodist Women . In her younger years she was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts. She loved to travel and was fortunate to have seen many scenic places in the United States and in foreign lands. Dorothy worked as an assembler at Air Craft Radio in Boonton Twp., NJ for 32 years before retiring in 1984. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman W. Coates, sister, Phyllis M. Coates Burns, nephew, Farnham William Vanderhoof and much loved brother-in-law, Farnham E. Vanderhoof. She is survived by her sister, Florence L. Coates Vanderhoof, of Denville, N.J. In addition, she is survived by her nephews, Frederick E. Vanderhoof (Janice) and Edwin J. Vanderhoof (Deborah) of Denville, N.J.; her grandnieces and grandnephews, Jennifer Vanderhoof Krogstad, Timothy Vanderhoof, Wendy Vanderhoof Young, Stephanie Vanderhoof and Edwin James Vanderhoof; her great-grandnieces and great-grand nephews, Jonathan and Jessica Werts, Charles Young, Kiersten and Joshua Krogstad. She is also survived by nieces and nephew, Marjorie Jane Coates Mazey, Ruth Ann Burns Ziotkowski, Richard A. Coates, Martha A. Burns and Betty Jean Coates Hart, and their families. Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 19, 2009, at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834. Friends may visit from 1:00PM until time of service at 2:00PM.
