Florence Ann Mathern Hiltner Tiedemann went home to be with the Lord on Monday October 19, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late Bernard W. Mathern and Edna Resinger Mathern in West Orange, NJ on New Years Eve. She resided in West Orange moving to Morris Plains in 1976, Florence then moved to St. Francis Residential Community 4 years ago. She was a West Orange High School graduate and attended many college courses. She worked at Westinghouse in Newark retiring after 42 years. She loved volunteering at many hospitals ( St. Mary’s Hospital, Orange, Columbus Hospital, Bloomfield, NJ, Riverside Hospital , Boonton, NJ, St. Clare’s Hospitals in Denville and Dover, NJ. She especially loved volunteering on the Hotline and the Respiratory Unit at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, NJ. She was a volunteer for RSVP and a President for AARP.
She was predeceased by her husbands, John C. Hiltner and Robert Tiedemann, her brother Bernard J. Mathern Sr and sister in laws, Sophie Yudin Mathern and Gertrude Mathern, and her nephews Bernard Mathern Jr., and Robert Mathern.
She is survived by brother, William H. Mathern, her nieces Linda Branstetter and Lisa Gengaro, Trudy Manen, Monica Mathern, and Heidi DeMuro, and her nephews William Mathern Jr., Eric Mathern, and Peter Mathern, and many great nieces and great nephews who loved her dearly.

Florence’s funeral will be conducted from the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please light a candle in memory of Florence on web site), on Friday October 23rd at 9: am for a 10: am Mass of Christian Burial Service at St. Francis Chapel, Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ, committal and interment services at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday October 22nd at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Donations maybe made to the charity of your choice.
