since we had the honor of receiving the keys from you to 13 summit drive nearly sixteen years ago we feel closer to you than anyone else on this earth. please know that i kept my promise to you and immediately ordered and rehung the face of jesus portrait from the mystery players in the exact same place that you had chosen for it. i will always remember how i told you that we would purchase your home if you left the picture but you said oh no that will definitely be coming with us. i still feel so very badly that i could not stop to hug you when you called out hi theres to me at kristin gallagher's wedding but my kristin was headed towards the church steps while recovering from a broken collarbone and i had to bolt as usual. it was such a pleasure to see claire and your handsome sons. please know that your home is in very good hands. mark is the joke of the summit drive because of his immaculate lawn and yard and i do the best i can to keep the inside in tip top shape while caring for kristin who is glued to me. ever since we took over the possesion of your home we think of you every moment. rest in eternal peace faithful servant your work on this earth has been completed. may god forever bless you and all the mcelroys for you citizenship to rockridge and all of denville

I wander o'er green hills thro' dreamy valleys
And find a peace no other land can know
I hear the birds make music fit for angels
And watch the rivers laughing as they flow.
And then into a humble shack I wander
My dear old home, and tenderly behold
The folks I love around the turf fire gathered
On bended knees their rosary is told.
But dreams don't last
Tho' dreams are not forgotten
And soon I'm back to stern reality
But tho' they've paved the footways here with gold dust
I still would choose the Isle of Innisfree.

Pop, from the days of running around your house on Summit drive to grading papers on the couch in Whiting, you were always proud of me. I told the Study Hall story in class this week and my students didn't take to fondly to it, but I was so proud to share it with them. I will miss you soo much. I can't wait to share my teaching stories with you.

The man was larger than life. Always a voice to be reckoned with, especially when he would shave the heads of the entire neighborhood's male population under 12 annually! Booming voice, Clancy brothers, macpac and cigars is how I'll remember him fondly! We'll miss the big guy! Love The Gallaghers

While we never had the honor of meeting Mr. McElroy, we loved reading the story about him attending council meetings and smoking his cigar and driving physicians to attend in gas masks. This tells the world about the type of catalyst he was and how he made things happen, his way.
From our family to yours, please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers. We pray for strength today so you can live by his teachings in the years to come, and at the same time celebrate life
with the passion he seemingly exhibited on a daily basis.
Sincerely,
The Valenza Family
(friends of Bill)

We cannot be there in person but are thinking of Joe and all members of the McElroy family(ies) during this difficult time. Mr. McElroy was a completely engaging conversationalist whose company was enjoyed most certainly by anyone who ever met him. He was from a great generation of men and women who lived the exemplary lives that for each of us who knew them are a lifelong lesson. God bless. Gas masks are now being handed out in heaven.

I'm feeling kind of down Pop, but I have your letter about Golden to put things in perspective. I'll do my best to make sure there are gummies and scratch offs for all the kids from now on. I'll meet you at the First Tee on the other side. You bring the retriever, I'll bring the gold ball. Love you Pop.
