Robert L. Riker “Bob”, 81, passed away on Saturday June 22, 2013 at Saint Clare’s Hospital, Denville, NJ.
Bob was born in Hackensack, NJ, and was a lifelong resident of Denville. Bob served in the United States Army and served in Korea. Bob was a Planner at the International Paper Company in Whippany, NJ and Suffern, NY and after 41 years’ service he retired in 1996. After his retirement Bob started a second career, volunteering with The Seeing Eye, Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Ayers-Knuth Farm Association, Friends of the Library, and the Denville Beautification Committee.
Bob is survived by his wife, Florence “Bunny” Riker, his three sons, Leonard Riker and his wife Amy, Kevin Riker and his wife Melissa, and Marc T. Riker. His three grandchildren, Derek, Dylan, and Chandler. His sister, Jane Sweigart, and his two brothers, Arthur and Donald Riker, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Riker.
Bob’s funeral will be conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave., Denville, NJ www.normandean.com, (please share a memory of Bob on website), on Thursday June 27th at 8:45am for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial service at St. Mary’s Church, Denville, NJ. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday June 26th at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9pm. In Lieu of flowers, donation to Meals on Wheels or the Denville Beautification Committee would be appreciated.
