Obituary of Michael C. Di Palma

Michael di Palma, 68 died at his home in Lake George, NY on Thursday July 9, 2009.
Mike was born in New York City son of Dr. Salvatore and Salvina di Palma and grew up in Denville, NJ. He graduated from Morris Hills High School in Rockaway where he was a track star. Mike had held the Morris County Record for the 220 yard Dash for over fifteen years.
After graduating he joined the US Air Force.
Michael attended Lasell College in Mass. and later graduated from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ with a degree in Criminal Justice.
In 1964 he was hired by Denville Township as a police officer and faithfully served Denville for twenty seven years retiring in 1991.
His long time love with Lake George in New York brought him to a new career as a fishing guide on the lake and as owner of Northway Adirondack Guides and Charters he brought many families and friends to great fishing spots on the lake.
He is a member of Denville P. B. A. Local 142.
The love of his life was his daughter Lisa di Palma Bonfiglio, who died this past February following a long battle with breast cancer. Besides Lisa and his parents his brothers Anthony di Palma and John di Palma also died previously.
Mike is survived by his brother Peter di Palma of Hackettstown, his sister Marianne Jacobs of Bethesda, Md. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral from the Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave. Denville, NJ www.normandean.com on Thursday July 16, 2009 at 9:00 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's RC Church in Denville, NJ.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
