Nora Hartnett, age 85, formerly of Denville, NJ, went to be with The Lord Thursday, July 9, 2009. She passed away at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY.
Nora was born December 7, 1923. She was one of 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls, born to John and Catherine Moran in Capawee, Portmagee, County Kerry, Ireland. In 1949, Nora moved to the U.S., and resided in Massachusetts before moving to The Bronx in 1950. There she met, and in 1953 married, William Hartnett. Nora and William spent 13 years in the Bronx before they moved to Morris Co., NJ. Nora worked as a Nurse's Aid at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville.
Nora loved to entertain family and friends, and was famous for her cooking, especially Irish soda bread and mashed potatoes. She was a strong and devout Catholic who loved her faith, and it played an important part throughout her life.
She was predeceased be her husband, parents, and siblings. Surviving her are her daughters, Maggie Bourlier and her husband, Mike, of Byram, NJ, and Eileen Dolce and her husband Eugene, of The Bronx, NY, grandchildren, Matthew and Brianna Bourlier of Byram, and Chloe and Sonora Dolce, of The Bronx, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 13, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Denville. Friends may call at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave, Denville, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nora's memory to the Alzheimer's Assn, 400 Morris Ave, Denville, 07834.
